Crisis Ministry is a great place in which to build team spirit for groups of up to 10 people! Youth groups, scouting groups, corporate teams, and service clubs have all participated in team building activities at Crisis Ministry — while helping people in need. We can also provide speakers to lead discussions for your group to raise awareness of issues relating to homelessness, hunger and poverty. For more on the projects listed below —or if you have an idea for a new one—please contact Alicia Morrison by email or at 609-396-9355.
Did you know that The Crisis Ministry spends only $7.90 per family per month from our food budget — yet provides about $35 worth of food? Donations from food drives make a BIG difference in the quality and quantity of food we give. We provide 1,350 households with food each month, and your donations help.
Please click here for a grocery list of suggested foods that you can print out and distribute to your volunteers. Coordinate a Food Drive for the Crisis Ministry— The Crisis Ministry is providing food for more families than ever each month — more than 1,400 families! Neighbors in need come to us for the healthy choices we offer, selecting the foods they need based on the number of people in their household and on standard nutrition guidelines. We make every effort to fill our shelves and refrigerated cases with high-quality proteins, fresh produce, grains and legumes, low-sodium canned vegetables, and no-sugar-added canned fruits. Contact Mark Smith (609-396-9355, ext. 26). Here's a handy grocery list to distribute.
In 2010 the donation from McCaffrey's was over $6,000! If you are a McCaffrey's shopper this is a great way to support the Crisis Ministry. Simply save and forward your receipts to CM within 3 months, and our office volunteers take care of the rest. Mail your McCaffrey's receipts to CM at 123 E. Hanover St., Trenton, NJ 08608, or leave them in the CM boxes at Nassau Presbyterian Church or Trinity Church in Princeton. You can also bundle your receipts and leave them in the CM boxes at Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church.
Store Volunteers help check clients into our Trenton Food Store (open 9:00 am - noon weekdays and some Saturdays), help stock items when food is delivered, and help clients choose foods as they browse our aisles.
